Sharon Mansur - Toshi Makihara
at Studio 34, 4522 Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia 215-387-3434 Washington DC based dancer/choreographer Sharon Mansur is the artistic director of mansurdance, a collaborative performance project that integrates choreography, improvisation and experimental multi-media performance in traditional, alternative and site specific venues. Sharon is currently an Assistant Professor of Dance at the University of Maryland, and she has taught at numerous Washington DC area studios and colleges including Dance Place, American University, George Mason University, George Washington University, Goucher College, and Howard University. Sharon and Toshi Makihara have been collaborating since 2002. |

Jeff Waring - Paul Woznicki - Toshi Makihara
at Penn State Berks / Freyberger Gallery, Tulpehocken Road, Reading, PA 19610 (610) 396-6000 Jeff Waring is the director and 20 year member of Highwire Gallery, one of the the first co-op galleries in Philadelphia, formed in 1988. Waring taught art at Haverford School for four years and is currently at Westtown School, where he has taught for eighteen years, serving as chair of the department for the last three. He earned a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1985. Waring is always at the threshold of creating something new. Along with his exhibition, Waring will conduct an open workshop at the Gallery that includes creating to live music. The workshop / performance features Waring's live painting / drawing with the original music by Paul Woznicki (keyboard) and Toshi Makihara (percussion). See Post Card in PDF |

In Retrospect / A Concert of Appreciation Leah Stein Dance Company
at Susan Hess Modern Dance, 2030 Sansom Street, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia Leah Stein Dance Company presents an introspective concert of dance at Susan Hess Modern Dance Studio. In Retrospect explores new improvisational scores and revisits past works. The Company, typically known for dancing in unusual sites, returns to the studio, where Leah Stein began her Philadelphia career. LSDC's lush and interconnected dancing will be heightened in this intimate setting, featuring Ellen Gerdes, Danielle Kinne, David Konyk, Jaamil Kosoko, Jumatatu Poe, Shavon Norris, Josie Smith, and Michele Tantoco. The evening will also feature long-time collaborator Toshi Makihara and a solo performance by Leah Stein. |
